Chipotle has released The Scarecrow, a short film to promote its iOS video game. The video has to be one of the coolest things I’ve seen in awhile. I love that Fiona Apple is covering “Pure Imagination” from Willy Wonka, not to mention all of the amazing 3D graphics depicting a dystopian future.
The film features a scarecrow who works in a factory that makes genetically modified food. He just so happens to be a farmer and is depressed because no one eats real food anymore.
So he makes his own delicious dishes. And I’m guessing the video game is the scarecrow saving real food.
The video has received rave reviews in the short time it has been released:
Bruce Horovitz at USA Today says, “Chipotle is about to turn the ad world on its head.”
Peter Weber at The Week says, “it is the most beautiful, haunting infomercial you’ll ever see.”
Gawker’s Neetzan Zimmerman says, “all other ads should just give up.”
