Kelly Osbourne appeared on The View today. She called out Donald Trump’s racist remarks. But Osbourne’s attempt at calling out Trump’s racism ended up also being racist.
“If you kick every Latino out of this country, then who is going to be cleaning your toilet, Donald Trump?”
A few panelists object to the comment – particularly Rosie Perez, stating, “There’s more jobs than that in the country for Latinos, and Latinos are not the only people who clean toilets.”
She immediately clarified her statement: “No, I didn’t mean it like that! Come on!”
Osbourne didn’t apologize on the show. But the former Fashion Police co-host did apologize on Facebook this afternoon:
“I want to start by saying I ALWAYS take responsibility for my actions. In this particular case I will take responsibility for my poor choice of words but I will not apologize for being a racist as I am NOT.”
Rosie Perez even apologized on Twitter: “My apologies @KellyOsbourne, I took your point wrong-#Trump #Latinos. My bad. You’re heart is so pure & righteous. I adore you. @TheView”
But Twitter exploded with criticism, using the #QueridaKellyOsbourne hashtag, which translate to “Dear Kelly Osbourne”
Aura Bogado writes, “Maybe we can let @KellyOsbourne know why she needs to apologize. Starting with an explanation of what latinos do. #QueridaKellyOsbourne”
Vic writes “@legitvic_ kelly osbourne tried to say something positive and ended up saying the biggest stereotype there is. what a dumbass”
Is Kelly Osbourne an accidental racist? Or does Donald Trump just bring out the worst in people?
