Ashton Kutcher testified at a hearing at the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday in the hopes of ending modern slavery and human trafficking.
At the start of the hearing, Senator John McCain made a statement that the actor looked better “in the movies.” Ashton responded by blowing McCain a kiss.
Kutcher sat next to Human Rights First President and CEO Elisa Massimo and made a passionate speech, where he ended up tearing up.
Kutcher called out the trolls that frequently tell him to “stick to his day job.” He explained to the audience what his “day jobs” are.
Outside of being a leading man, Kutcher is a chairman and co-founder of Thorn, a company that builds software to fight human trafficking and the sexual exploitation of children. He’s also the dad of two kids, a 2-month-old son and a 2-year-old daughter. He was at the hearing “to defend their right” to pursue happiness and ensure society helps as well.
During his speech, he held back tears as he shared things he’s experience during his travels to help children from trafficking, giving terrifying examples of kids who suffered sexual abuse.
